- Full-Day Tour to Saqqara and Dahshur
Two pyramid fields that show how the Egyptians perfected the pyramid form
This full-day excursion moves outside central Cairo to two of the country's earliest pyramid fields. At Saqqara, the Step Pyramid of Djoser rises in stacked stone terraces — built around 2630 BC for the 3rd Dynasty king, it's considered the world's oldest large-scale stone monument. After a lunch stop at a local restaurant, the day continues to Dahshur, where the Bent and Red Pyramids show the architectural trial and error that led, a generation later, to the smooth-sided pyramids of Giza. It's a quieter alternative to the main Giza circuit, with far smaller crowds.

Cairo — where the ancient world begins.
