Jordan
Jordan needs less time than Egypt and returns an outsized amount for it. Petra alone — the rock-cut city reached on foot through the Siq gorge — takes a full day to see properly, and most first-time visitors underestimate that. Wadi Rum's red desert is best experienced overnight in a Bedouin camp, with the Dead Sea's mineral float on the way back to Amman. GenToura's Jordan programs run four to seven days and pair naturally onto an Egypt trip, since Cairo to Amman is a two-and-a-half-hour flight, for travellers who would rather see both than choose.
