- Sound and Light Show at Karnak Temple
Karnak after dark, told through light, sound, and story
Karnak Temple is one of the largest religious complexes ever built, and after dark it takes on an entirely different character. This roughly 75-minute Sound and Light Show guides you on foot through the temple's courts, halls, and the famous Hypostyle Hall of towering columns, while a dramatic narration (available in multiple languages via included headsets or the venue's audio system) recounts the temple's construction, its pharaohs, and the myths tied to the site.
Colored lighting is projected across the columns and statues, and the show closes with a seated segment overlooking the Sacred Lake, where the story is told from the water's edge. Your private, air-conditioned vehicle collects you from your Luxor hotel before the show and returns you afterward, accompanied throughout by an English-speaking assistant.
This tour runs every evening and is a wonderful pairing with a daytime visit to Karnak, since the two experiences feel almost like visiting two different places.
