- Hot Air Balloon Ride over Luxor
Sunrise over the Valley of the Kings, seen from the sky
Your morning begins early, well before sunrise, when a private vehicle collects you from your hotel or cruise ship and takes you to the launch site on Luxor's West Bank. Over tea and coffee, you'll watch the balloon crew prepare the flight while the sky begins to lighten.
Once airborne, your balloon climbs gently over the fields and villages of the West Bank, giving you sweeping views of the Valley of the Kings, the Ramesseum, Hatshepsut's temple, and the Colossi of Memnon, all lit by the soft colors of early morning light. Flights typically last around 45 minutes, drifting with the wind at varying altitudes for different perspectives.
After landing, you'll be presented with a flight certificate before being transferred back to your hotel, usually in time for breakfast. This experience pairs beautifully with a West Bank ground tour later in the day, since you'll already recognize the sites from above.
